Searching for your car
- Why are there some manufacturers/models/options missing from the search engine?
Our search options are displayed in such a way that you can only choose filters based on what adverts are currently in the database. This is intended to work as a guide to stop you from coming up with empty searches. - How accurate are the distance calculations when I use my postcode in the search?
The distances calculated are "as the crow flies" as opposed to an estimated route on real roads. For the most part distances will be fairly accurate but in some cases they can be quite out. Take the following example:
This map shows the distance (in miles) between two postcodes. As you can see, the "as the crow flies" distance is 1/5th of the actual road distance. If you were to do a search setting your postcode as "B" and there was an advert with postcode "A" the distance shown would be the red-line distance (11 miles), not the actual road distance.
Depending on where you live this is something to keep in mind. In the future we hope to provide even more accurate distance calculations with take into account realistic routes between postcodes.
